WHICH NAME WILL YOU NEVER NAME YOUR CHILD...

Yesterday was a very hectic day. Walking form our office cubicle to the printer. Our own printer broke down since January and the management seems not to be doing anything about it. So we have to share other desks printer.
Later during the day when the workload seems to have reduced, a colleague of mine, Betty came to our office for a little chitchat (her Oga must not get to know o). While we were talking we got into the discussion of what our names meant and the origin which eventually lead to some funny names some people have and what name would we not name our child.
Betty said she would never name her child names like Paulinus, Paulina, Augustus, etc. saying though she didn’t border to find out their meanings because she just don’t like the sound of those names.
“Me o, I will never name my child names like Aboy, Amazing, bountiful, Glandness because to me those are just words or expression and not a cute name to give your baby” Adaora said. We all laughed and I remembered what a comedian said about Igbo’s giving their child funny name like Righteous, Abundance, Purity and even the funniest “Praise and Worship” for twins (I hope that was just a joke because I wonder how the children will feel when they grow up).
While all the talks was going on, the doctor in my company’s clinic walked in and overheard our discussion she said she remembered her days in the States where she had a patient in the ER with the name of Shi-thead (according to the patient, her name was pronounced shi- theed) You should have seen the commotion that caused when Admissions had to make a patient plate. It was very difficult for a staff member to hold back laughing when they had to call her name, but surprisingly enough, they all used restraint and acted as if it was a common name used every day. After she was admitted and sent to her room the staff burst out hysterically.
All these got me thinking  and I remembered some names I will never for anything in the world name my child and the first on my list of  “NAMES I’LL NEVER NAME MY CHILD” is… ESUPOFO

I will never name my child Esupofo (a Yoruba name meaning the devil has lost or the devil is doomed) because when u shorten d name it will surely mean something bad, e.g. Esu (devil) Pofo (lost or doomed). So you have to always call the name in full.

Though the name has a lovely meaning when pronounced in full…
What name will you never name your child and why?
